The Dallas City Council voted in December to provide financial incentives to Home Depot to open a multi-million-square-foot distribution center at 9314 West Jefferson Blvd. The center will bring about 800 jobs to the area. The agreement requires the company to commit 25% of the jobs to Dallas residents. The facility will be Home Depot’s largest distribution center in the country to date.
“This is an opportunity that will be beneficial to many of the residents of the city of Dallas. We are excited about this opportunity,” Thomas said. “We are going to have a very active hiring process. We’re going to work with them on training and make sure that so many people who have not had opportunities have the skills necessary to move out of poverty and be able to break a generational curse. We’re talking over 800 jobs.” Mayor Pro Tem Casey Thomas told the The Dallas Business Journal.
